Tower Cottage was designed and built around 1890 by John Edward Wainhouse. He also built the iconic Wainhouse Tower.
The Wainhouse family-owned Robert’s dye-works in Washer lane. As a local philanthropist Edward paid great attention to the improvement of the buildings and environment in the area.
You can see many examples of his designs and dwellings in the lanes around the cottage. He was known for Gothic entrances with pointed arches – much like the porch on the holiday cottage at no 61.
Set in a quiet location near Halifax, Tower Cottage feels like it’s in the middle of the countryside. Surrounded by great views and woods, the holiday cottage sleeps 4 people but is also super cosy just for two.
Whether you’re coming to enjoy the local area, working or visiting friends and family, there is plenty to do in beautiful Yorkshire.
Hello - I’m Sue. With a 20 year long career in brand experience and design in 2021 I decided to venture into hospitality and open Tower Cottage - holiday let.
Having travelled the world and stayed at everything from 5* hotels, beach huts to camping and hostels I hope I’ve managed to design a welcoming and stylish environment for my guests and I hope people love the cottage as much as I do.
